Fred and Minnie (Hopley) Muffley
circa 1943

Minnie (Hopley) and Fred Clifford Muffley at their house on Alturas Street in Fairfield, Idaho in 1943-1946

The cross in the window to the left is a Red Cross patriotic display used during the Second World War and the Star Flag to the right indicates a son in the service.  The single son is probably representative of son Wayland, who was in the US Army in the Pacific Theater.  Son James was in the Navy, but is believed to have been discharged at the time of the photograph.  Had both boys been in the service, a flag with two stars would logically have been displayed.  Minnie was active in Red Cross activities related to the War effort.
